He pissed people off in the process, was sued and went to jail…repeatedly. He took one case all the way to the Supreme court and won…enabling all of us to watch porn with much less fear of prosecution. He even got shot by a still unidentified hater and ended up in a wheelchair for his efforts. Anyone working in, or watching porn today, owes a tremendous debt of gratitude to Larry Flynt. Though I’ve been inside his Century City office (at a Hustler Christmas party), I’ve never met the man. Hustler was late to the DVD scene, but quickly gained a reputation for high end productions, hot girls and of course, nasty hardcore sex. Almost overnight Hustler became a major force in the adult DVD industry, sucking up most of the good directors, corporate managers, sales people and talent. The Hustler brand was SO big that they had their pick of all the top porn stars along with a never ending stream of hot ‘just off the bus’ new girls looking to fuck on camera for Larry.
